Once you've created a game or accepted an invitation to one, you can enter the game room. Here, you're greeted by the EpicTable Game Screen. This gives you access to the gametable and the various elements of a roleplaying game: characters, dice rolls, handouts, maps, and tabletops.

The Ribbon

All these elements are accessed through the "ribbon", that is, the menu at the top of the screen. Each of the major game elements mentioned above have a corresponding tab on the ribbon, and in each of those tabs, you have a button to create one of these, and a gallery of previously created items for this game. Right-clicking on items in the gallery gives you options, such are sharing/unsharing the item or removing it from the game entirely.

Panels

Below the ribbon are panels that surround the heart of EpicTable, which is the tabbed set of maps and tabletops. These panels and their default locations are:

  • Left: the Chat Panel
  • Top: the Portrait Bar
  • Bottom: the Dice Tray

Top and Bottom Bars

At the very top of the window, you have zoom controls, which work on maps and tabletops, and at the very bottom of the window, there are status indicators for each of the participants. This lets you see at a glance if everyone is connected--all green orbs. You can hover over the indicators for additional info.

Maps and Tabletops

Your maps and tabletops are in the center. Each occupies a tab, so that you can quickly jump from one to the other. Each may be shared or private. Very often, a GM will prepare a map in private and then later share it with the players. You can right-click on the tab to see a set of options for that map or tabletop, and when you're viewing a map or tabletop tab, the "Maps and Tabletops" ribbon gives you additional options.
